Anticipated Salary: $60,000-$70,000

Time Off Plan: 25 days of PTO. Additional Days Off: MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Week of July 4th, Labor Day

The Special Programs Manager oversees and guides a team of professionals providing critical services to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both fields, along with exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills. This role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate the performance of Speech-Language Pathologists and School Psychologists.

  • Provide ongoing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members to foster professional growth and high-quality service delivery.

  • Ensure that all staff adhere to relevant professional standards and state or district regulations.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive service delivery models that address the needs of students requiring speech-language and psychological services.

  • Collaborate with educational staff, administrators, and families to design and modify individualized education programs (IEPs) and intervention plans.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to special education services, including assessments, IEPs, and documentation.

  • Review and approve reports, evaluations, and intervention plans for accuracy, quality, and compliance with professional standards.

Training and Professional Development:

  • Plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for the SLPs and School Psychologists.

  • Stay current with research and best practices in the fields of speech-language pathology and school psychology, and share relevant insights with the team.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, administrators, teachers, and families to promote a holistic approach to student support.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and implement effective intervention strategies.

This position has 3-6 indirect reports.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • One (1) year of ELL Teacher experience OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical thinking

  • Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align those with the K12 curriculum

  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes

  • Ability to problem solve independently and have a high level of organization

  • Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects and able to act to preserve integrity on other people's deadlines

  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week

  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school

  • Ability to travel as required (on average once per month and/or up to 25% of the time) for face to face professional development, student testing, and as required by school

  • Access to reliable high-speed internet

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint;

  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum

  • Ability to clear required background check

  • Valid SC educator certificate and experience in special education

Location

All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina.

This position is remote with the following travel expectations:

  • Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester

  • Attend in-person professional development 1-3 times per semester

  • Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)

  • Participate in in-person student testing

  • Additional details on travel will be provided in the interview process
