Senior Industrial Designer

Charlotte, NC

InVue is seeking a Senior level Industrial Designer to join a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative Industrial Design team. You will discover and design the form/function/experience of specialty security products for top consumer electronics brands, retailers, and internal New Product Development (NPD) projects. Working with the latest technology, you will have the opportunity to shape the retail experience, collaborate with passionate individuals, and push designs quickly through to production. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong ownership, leadership, have the curiosity and drive to get to the right solution, and push a strong aesthetic vision.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer pain points, identify different use cases and apply these learnings towards the design process. 
• Deliver elegant product innovation that maintains InVue Best in Class capabilities while aligning with specific customer’s requirements, brand language, and user experience.  
• Collect, interpret and visualize design research to inform early product definition and support robust final solutions.  
• Engage directly with customers and internal stakeholders to present designs and incorporate feedback in quick iterative cycles.  
• Hands-on design across a wide range of formats: from 3D models to 2D service blueprints  
• Prototype early and often to help define and document the product’s user experience in entirety: from initial setup to customer interaction.  
• Interface directly and regularly with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to maintain ID intent and address technical challenges throughout development.
• Drive a focused and efficient approach throughout the development cycle: from right-sizing product requirements at kickoff, to providing decisive inputs during DFM process.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience ideating and designing manufactured products that added revenue growth to the company.
• Must have strong problem-solving skills and leadership qualities. 
• Experience in the consumer electronics industry or retail design industry preferred. 
• Experience in IOT connected devices with both physical and digital interfaces a plus. UI design experience also a plus.
• BS/BA degree in Industrial Design or Product Design.
• Mix of agency and corporate experience is highly desired.
• Professional references from Product Marketers, Mechanical Engineers, and Corporate Leaders. Must have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams with a high level of ownership and well-developed communication skills.
• Portfolio (.pdf) that demonstrates 3D visualization, diversity of work across categories and materials, and success stories moving from concept through manufacturing. Value designs that are thought out, able to be manufactured within the parameters given, and with a clean look and feel.
• High Proficiency in applicable 2D and 3D software:
• SolidWorks preferred
• Keyshot, Adobe CS Suite, PowerPoint/Keynote etc.
