Job Title: Grant Technical Writer

Location: Passaic County, New Jersey (Hybrid)

Duration: 36 Months

Years of Experience: 8+ Yrs.

Required Hours/Week: 40hrs./Week

Project Overview:

The End-Client, consisting of sixteen municipalities in northern New Jersey, is seeking a qualified and experienced Grant Writing Consultant to support the cleint. This role focuses on identifying, developing, submitting, and securing funding from federal, state, local, and private entities to strengthen County programs and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Grant Writing & Research

  • Conduct comprehensive research and tracking of local, state, federal, and private grant opportunities.
  • Advise County departments on suitable grant options and submission strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather program data, interpret funding guidelines, and compile application content.
  • Build partnerships with aligned organizations to enhance proposal strength and funding potential.
  • Draft high-quality, compelling grant proposals aligned with deadlines and submission guidelines.
  • Participate in required meetings, including monthly grant strategy sessions with designated County representatives.
  • Manage all administrative tasks associated with the grant writing process.

B. Grant Management & Reporting

  • Track, monitor, and report on the status and outcomes of all grant submissions.
  • Submit monthly performance reports and an annual summary analyzing grant successes and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of awarded funds, excluding routine grants obtained annually by the County.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of successfully writing and securing grants for government institutions .
  • Deep understanding of public-sector funding mechanisms at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong experience working with private foundations and philanthropic grantors.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-departmentally and engage external partners strategically.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in project administration, grant compliance, and reporting.

Preferred Experience Areas:

  • Federal and State grant programs (e.g., NEA, NEH, IMLS, NJ Council on the Arts, NJ Historic Trust).
  • Grant reporting systems and digital submission platforms.
  • Government or nonprofit arts/cultural programming is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be available to work onsite in Passaic County.
  • Must be willing to attend regular in-person meetings with County officials.
  • Resume should highlight specific grants secured, amounts, funding entities, and impact.
