Job Description and Duties

The SSA / AGPA will receive direct supervision from the Foreign Direct Investment Program Manager and general program direction from the Associate Deputy Director for Industry Engagement and Development as well as the Chief Deputy Director. The SSA / AGPA will also support initiatives led by the Regional Trade Representatives and facilitate overall process improvement and collaboration across REDI, International, and CalBIS teams. “International business development” as referenced here includes any efforts by the unit to directly or indirectly increase foreign investment in California – with the effect of stimulating economic activity in California. This position regularly supports activities with foreign individuals and organizations, as well as domestic industry engagement for the purposes of amplifying California’s economy for the global business community. Travel may be required up to 15%.

Working Conditions

Hybrid: this position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule and requires reporting in-person at headquarters in Sacramento 2 times a week . As a result of the Governor’s recent executive order, GO-Biz employees may be required to come into the office in Sacramento at least four times a week. #li-hybrid

Special Requirements

1. This position entails working directly with expanding international businesses to help them establish operations in California. How has your personal and professional experience prepared you to engage expanding businesses from a wide variety of countries and industries?

2. Successfully attracting foreign businesses to California entails extensive research on foreign investment data, dynamics in specific industries, California's engagement with individual markets, etc. What is your experience with research/data analysis, and what tools would you use to effectively gather and relay information?

Salary and Application Information

Salary -
