We are hiring for an Entry Writer in Torrance, CA ASAP! Job Description The Entry Writer is a vital member of the CHB team, tasked with ensuring the accurate and timely submission of customs entries for the clearance of inbound cargo through US Customs and facilitating the delivery of freight to customers. This role requires strong customer service skills as the Entry Writer serves as a customer advocate. The position offers opportunities for growth, as incumbents may be promoted from administrative operations positions to learn and excel as an entry writer. Responsibilities + Prepare and transmit CBP entries by receiving and reviewing documentation to input and transmit data for CBP release of shipments. + Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each customer to correctly prepare entries. + Utilize product files to identify HTS details on commercial invoices. + Report to the supervisor on the completion of entry tasks and release of cargo. + Report exceptions to established clearance requirements to the supervisor. + Organize the work area to track the status of every file through each phase of the CBP entry process. + Confirm release details to customers through pre-established communication protocols. + Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Import operations. + Track and trace shipments, coordinating with steamship lines, freight forwarders, and CFS for availability of imported shipments. + Arrange pick-up and delivery of freight with trucking companies. + Coordinate with supervisors on delivery exceptions and special instructions. + Handle accounting processes related to CHB, including issuing invoices to customers or overseas offices and processing payment requisitions. Essential Skills + Experience in Air Import, Entry Writing, and Customs procedures. + Proficiency with Cargowise and related software. + Strong track and trace capabilities. + Good team working skills and verbal reporting abilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School Diploma or GED. + 6 months to 2 years of experience in entry writing from brokerage. + Experience with the relevant act is essential. + Additional certifications in logistics or customs operations are advantageous. Work Environment This position is based on-site at a logistics company in Torrance for the initial 90 days, after which it can transition to a hybrid work model.
