Essential Job Functions
Adhere to the principles of the Professional Code of Ethics and the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Statutes and Regulations for a licensed Occupational Therapist
Available during the regular school hours at assigned site and for required meetings within the parameters of the scheduled work day
Is adept in utilizing the educational model of service vs,
the medical model of service in regards to the development and maintenance of a students therapy program
Demonstrate good and timely communication skills to receive or convey essential and important information, for example reports and evaluations, to pertinent educational staff, CSH School Services staff, parents, student and other necessary entities,
Will participate in IEP and other school meetings when appropriate,
Such meetings could be in person, by phone or by virtual meeting platform
Display good collaborative skills which are crucial in formulating a specialized transdisciplinary plan for a student in their educational program
Provide necessary instruction, training, supervision and monitoring of school personnel in the use of a prescribed therapeutic plan, technique, or modality
Carry out assessment, reassessment and evaluation procedures for referred students, meeting district and CSH School Services requirements and timelines
Plan, develop and implement therapeutic interventions that are goal oriented and educationally relevant
Complete all necessary documentation, databases, schedules and billing logs in accordance with CSH School Services department policy and assigned district or schools policy
Maintain and be accountable for therapy inventory and equipment
Complete all assigned mandatory education requirements within stated timeframes
Develop and maintain all professional skills and competencies appropriate to job assignment
May participate in the training and supervision of clinical fieldwork students according to stated student program objectives
Meet productivity expectations for assigned schedule
Support efforts to accomplish the goals of Children s Specialized Hospitals School Services, representative of our organization not as an independent contractor adhering to the noncompete policies of the organization
Coordinator II Job Functions:
A Coordinator II level occupational therapist may function as a staff therapist, but at a level higher than an intermediate therapist,
This means that the Coordinator II has responsibility for their assigned direct services workload and will also be responsible for the following duties:
Coordinate the activities and service provision for designated contract sites, as assigned by the administrative director,
Maintain ongoing communication with the special education supervisors to facilitate use of available therapists
Collaborate with the administrative director and or coordinators to complete performance appraisals and when needed performance management plans of assigned staff
Coordinate supervision of OTA s and entry level therapists with the administrative director of therapy services and or coordinators
Supervise scheduling in assigned districts to ensure quality and efficiency of service delivery
Assume responsibility for monitoring referrals and confirmations from assigned school districts,
Coordinate the evaluations of out of district students as requested by the assigned districts
Develop action plans to address problems requiring immediate solutions in the absence of the administrative director,
Collaborate with other senior staff members, coordinators, and the administrative director in developing and updating operational procedures
Assist the administrative director in determining the contractual and staffing needs for service delivery in the assigned districts
Contribute to the orientation proces new staff members to their assigned district
Assume responsibility for making sure that all therapists maintain updated databases, referral tracking, schedules and SEMI tracking
Monitor and mentor staff regarding best practice for school based OT services
Along with the coordinators and administrative director, provide oversight with monitoring staff documentation and services for quality control
Maintain communication with staff regarding district and department updates
Assign responsibilities to the lead and/or senior therapist as deemed appropriate
Assist the administrative director in all matters pertaining to the regulations regarding the provision of occupational therapy services in the state of NJ,
This includes maintenance of licenses, certifications and other documentation as required by districts, the Department of Education, and other accrediting bodies,
Advise the director regarding the supervisory and licensing needs of the therapy staff,
Serve as resource coordinator for those children requiring supplemental aids and services beyond what is generally provided within school district resources,
This includes, but is not limited to, children referred by sending districts to out of district placements, children requiring specialized equipment for school functioning and or children who have recently undergone medical intervention that has a significant impact on school performance
Demonstrate knowledge of ADA and section 504 as they pertain to least restrictive environment issues and will assist the administrative director in addressing those issues for customers,
Assist the administrative director with therapist recruitment efforts,
Collaborate with senior therapists and the administrative director to establish preliminary needs for budget information for staffing and equipment,
In collaboration with the administrative director, will provide supervision of the senior staff, ensuring seniors are fulfilling their job specific responsibilities,
In conjunction with the administrative director, initiate and maintain communication with District Special Education Directors Supervisors as appropriate
Regularly monitor department functions with an eye for improving quality and efficiency of services and procedures, and generate suggestions for improvement in these areas,
Maintain ongoing communication with the coordinators and/or administrative director regarding district operations,
Assume responsibility for other duties as specifically requested by the administrative director, director of operations and/or vice president,
Formal Education and Job Related Experience
Minimum of Bachelor Degree,
Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program,
Certification
School Certification in NJ
License
NJ Consumer Affairs Occupational Therapy License
Education and Experience Additional Comments
One must have at least five years clinical experience, two of which must be in pediatrics; and must demonstrate competency in school-based practice,
It is preferable that the Coordinator II has at least one year of practical experience at Children s Specialized Hospital School Services, demonstrating an understanding of department policy and procedures,
